Julian Edelman's potential four-game suspension is not the only concern for the New England Patriots' passing game.
Wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell, who like Edelman missed the entire 2017 season, was unable to practice during this week's three-day minicamp, multiple media outlets reported.
Mitchell did make it onto the field Thursday for the final day of minicamp but was restricted to conditioning drills, according to NESN.
The news of Edelman's four-game ban for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances and Mitchell's inability to practice are the latest blows to New England's wide receiving corps.
The Patriots traded speedy wideout Brandin Cooks to the Los Angeles Rams in the offseason, and slot receiver Danny Amendola signed a two-year, $12 million contract with the Miami Dolphins in March.
Mitchell, a fourth-round selection of New England in the 2016 NFL Draft, had a decent rookie campaign with 32 receptions for 401 yards and four touchdowns.
