CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Josh Gordon has played or practiced with at least a dozen Browns quarterbacks since 2012, and he's confident they've nailed it this time around with Tyrod Taylor and Baker Mayfield.
"The most talented quarterbacks I've seen come through here -- by far,'' Gordon said on Tuesday's opening of Browns mandatory minicamp. "It's going to be an interesting thing to watch the quarterback battle go on but you've got a proven guy in Tyrod, we've got a young talented guy in Baker. I don't see how it can go wrong, really.''
Gordon, who's seeking a big season five years after being in the Pro Bowl, has been inspired by Taylor's tireless work ethic.
"All I can do is make sure that I'm doing everything I can do to try to match Tyrod's level of intensity, his focus every morning,'' said Gordon. "He's the first guy in, he's the last guy to leave. I don't know a quarterback that works harder than Tyrod. He's definitely set the bar.''
Gordon has been impressed with Mayfield, who moved up to No. 2 last week.
"Baker, he's right behind (Taylor) and looking up to a guy that can show him the exact things you need to do to be a professional quarterback in this league,'' said Gordon. "So from a quarterback standpoint, we're really set. We're really good.''
Likewise, Gordon appreciated the compliment last week from Mayfield, who said 'I've never seen anything like him."
"Baker's my guy. We're real good friends and it definitely means a lot," he said. "To me more than anything, I think it's just kind of a testament to show the amount of work I've been putting in over a period of time and it's not just going to waste. ... I'm not looking for any type of verbal reinforcement, anything like that. I don't need it, but definitely appreciative for the compliment.''
