Former NFL senior vice president of officiating Dean Blandino has added a new job.
College Football Officiating announced on Monday that Blandino has accepted a position as its director of instant replay. The job focuses on offseason development and education and allows Blandino to continue in his current role as a rules analyst for NFL and NCAA games for FOX Sports.
"I'm extremely excited to join the CFO and NCAA in this role," Blandino said in a statement. "I've spent much of my career in the replay space and look forward to continuing to improve our processes and programming with the ultimate goal of efficient -- and correct -- outcomes."
Blandino will start the new position immediately and the job will temporarily conclude at the end of August. His duties will begin again in January 2019 and continue until the start of the new season.
"Dean emerged as the best candidate from a talented group of people interested in helping shape the future of instant replay in college football," said Jon Steinbrecher, commissioner of the Mid-American Conference and chair of the CFO Board of Managers.
